Grandma, Boy Tied Up In Home Invasion

Police Seek Robbers

Three gun-toting bandits invaded a home on Indianapolis' east side Friday morning, robbing a 75-year-old grandmother and her 10-year-old grandson before binding them, police said.

Mattie White was rousted from her sleep at just after 6 a.m. The men gained access to the home by climbing through a living room window at the home in the 3700 block of Manor Court, just south of 38th Street, police said.

The men, who were all wearing masks, tied up the victims with leather belts before leaving with a 42-inch flat-screen TV, a Wii video game system, a leather coat and $43 from White's wallet.

"Ever woke up and had a gun stuck in your face? It's terrifying. It's really terrifying," White said. "I tried to tell him I have heart problems. I don't need to go through this."

Police don't have a good description of the robbers or the vehicle in which they fled, but they think the robbers knew exactly what they were looking for.

"They had targeted that residence, not necessarily targeting her, but her son," said Indianapolis police Lt. Jeff Duhamell. "We're trying to see if he may have information about who may be targeting him."

Neighbors talked quietly amongst each other after the incident.

"Whoever it is, I want them to get captured, put away and put in jail," said Regina Neely. "This is a nice, quiet neighborhood, and nothing happens to elderly people or nothing like that."

White didn't mince words when she talked about the attackers, telling 6News she wants them caught and hopes they burn in hell.
