INDIANAPOLIS -- A contractor with a history of bilking people out of thousands of dollars is wanted again on similar charges.
6News' Rafael Sanchez first profiled Dennis Sayers in 2004 when homeowners in Indianapolis and Texas said they paid him for merchandise that never arrived. Now an arrest warrant has been issued for Sayers out of Howard County, where he's accused of ripping people off on home improvement projects, police said."You did an exposé on him, and we know that there's going to be additional victims out there," said Sheriff Marshal Talbert. "We have one set of victims who are afraid of him and don't want to pursue any action they're just going to take their lumps and count their losses."Police said Sayers' latest victim, a woman in her 70s, paid him for a roofing job, but ended up having to pay again when it was discovered Sayers never paid for the materials.Family members also told Sanchez there's been water damage inside the home since the roofing job.Police are hoping someone will spot Sayers, and soon."We need to get individuals like this off the street and get them locked up," Talbert said.Anyone with information about Sayers whereabouts is asked to call the Howard County Sheriff's Department at 765-457-1105 or the Peru State Police Post at 800-382-0689.
