Woman Sentenced In Repeated Sexual Assaults

Husband Awaits October Trial

A woman was sentenced Monday to 40 years in prison for her involvement in 13 years of sexual assaults on a mentally disabled woman in the care of her and her husband.

Patricia Tackett, 49, was found guilty in July of rape, sexual misconduct with a minor and child solicitation. Duane Tackett is awaiting trial on the same charges in October.

Delaware County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jeff Arnold said the case was unusual because it involved a couple and because the woman was as at fault as the male.

The assaults began when the woman, now 29, was 14 and continued through 2008, officials said. Police were told of the abuse after the victim confided in family members.

In 2008, officials said the victim has the mental capacity of a 5-year-old.

The abuse began in Muncie, officials said, and continued while the couple lived in Kentucky for 11 years before returning to Indiana.
