INDIANAPOLIS -- Rescue workers from Indiana are on standby to help any potential victims of Hurricane Earl as it races up the East Coast.Members of Task Force One, a group of disaster-trained firefighters and rescue workers, have been told to prepare for a possible deployment, 6News' Dan Spehler reported."We're ready to go," said coordinator Bill Brown. "They were working to finish up today, pulling the equipment out, laying it on the floor so that they can put in right in the trucks to get the trucks loaded."Up to 84 rescue workers from Task Force One could get the call at any moment to help."There is a lot of work to do. We've got to get them trained to go, prepared to go, and packed to go," said training coordinator Thomas Neal, "There's a lot of last-minute things that have to take place."Brown and Neal both helped coordinate the group's response to Hurricane Katrina five years ago."Katrina was probably the worst natural disaster that our team has been involved in," said Neal. Two central Indiana Red Cross workers took their emergency response vehicle to Massachusetts, where Earl could cause problems.Additional Red Cross volunteers could be called, if needed.
