Crash After High-Speed Chase Injures Woman
Car Nearly Split In Crash

FISHERS, Ind. -- A woman was injured after she led police on a high-speed chase in Hamilton County early Sunday morning, police said.The chase began just before 5 a.m. after the Hancock County Sheriff's Department called a Hamilton County dispatcher about a driver who fled into Hamilton County during an attempted traffic stop.Police began chasing Julie Edens, 54, of Fishers, northbound on Olio Road from 96th Street, Fishers police Officer Tom Weger said.Authorities said Edens was driving a Saturn car at speeds in excess of 95 mph and turned off her headlights before crashing near the Geist Reservoir bridge.Police said the car hit three large boulders near the entrance to Irving Materials."The impact nearly split the car in two," Weger said.Edens climbed out of the car and told a Hancock County deputy that she fled intentionally, Weger said. Police didn't say if Edens explained why she ran."Edens suffered a closed head injury and injury to her left leg," Weger said.Charges are pending against Edens, authorities said. Olio Road was closed for nearly four hours after the crash.
