Police: Woman Arrived Drunk To DUI Meeting

Defendant Warned About Alcohol Testing, Police Say

POSTED: 3:01 pm EDT September 8, 2010
UPDATED: 3:14 pm EDT September 8, 2010

A woman on probation for drunken driving was arrested when she showed up intoxicated to a court-ordered DUI awareness event, police said.

Kristen Hudson, 26, of Edinburgh, smelled of alcohol and was slurring her words when she arrived at the Advocates Against Impaired Driving panel Tuesday evening, police said.

The court-ordered event was mandatory for convicted or pending DUI defendants, and they were warned ahead of time that they would be checked for alcohol, organizers said.

Police said Hudson's blood-alcohol level tested at twice the legal limit. She was arrested on a preliminary charge of public intoxication.

Someone else had driven her to the event, police said.
