Effort Benefits Needy Children
INDIANAPOLIS -- The third annual RTV6 Toy Drive is under way!
Last year, RTV6 collected more than 10,000 toys -- a 25 percent increase from the previous year -- for needy children. This season, the need still is great.
"So many children go without presents during the holidays because their families must provide necessities such as food, shelter and medicine," RTV6 Chief Meteorologist Kevin Gregory said. "With the help of our friends at Gleaners Food Bank and FedEx, we're able to help ease the burden so that every child can have a present under the tree."You can drop off new, unwrapped toys to RTV6, located at 1330 N. Meridian St., through Dec. 19.People also can drop off toys at two Indianapolis Kroger locations Dec. 13. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The stores are located at 7101 E. 10th St. and 5025 W. 71st St.Starting Nov. 24, families looking for holiday assistance can call (317) 977-1750. An automated message will have information on how to apply.RTV6's friends at Gleaners Food Bank will distribute the toys. The drive is sponsored by Kroger.
