Driver May Have Had Medical Problem Before Crash

THORNTOWN, Ind. -- A man was killed Wednesday when his truck struck a tree head-on along State Road 39, the Boone County Sheriff's Department said.John Downing, 52, was taken to Witham Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.Police said the crash happened at about 5:20 p.m. at 3820 State Road 39.Investigators said the truck was northbound when it veered off the road and went about 1,100 feet through some front yards before hitting the tree.Investigators said they believe a medical issue caused the crash.
