Police: Chase For Suspects Ends With Crash, Injuries

INDIANAPOLIS -- A police chase through downtown Indianapolis on Saturday ended with cars damaged and people hurt, police said.The chase started at about 2 p.m. near the city county building downtown and and continued through the east side.Police said a tan Pontiac Grand Prix was driving out of control. When an officer tried to pull the driver over, the driver ignored the officer and kept going.The fleeing car caused a four-car accident near Washington Street and State Avenue."We heard the car wreck starting to happen, and as we turned we saw the car spinning out. When the rims shattered a piece flew up and smacked my buddy in the back causing him to fall off the ladder. He had to go to the hospital," said Nisa Kidwell, a witness at the scene.The suspects fled from the car at Washington Street. Police said one of the suspects threw a gun from the car during the chase. It fired when it hit the ground, but no one was shot.Police said the search for the suspects continues and asked anyone with information to call 262-TIPS.
