Police asked the public for help as they tried to determine who killed Mayra Perez Gonzales, 48, and Manuel Gonzales, 49.

Authorities said the couple's son found their bodies tied up in their home (pictured, left), located in the 100 block of Villa Avenue, around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The couple were Cubans who moved to the United States six months ago, RTV6's Derrik Thomas reported.

Indianapolis police Lt. Paul Ciesielski said the couple may have known the attacker or attackers.

"There was no forced entry into the home, the back door was unlocked, and they were obviously looking for something because the whole house was ransacked," Ciesielski said.

Police canvassed the neighborhood and questioned people about a timeframe of 3 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, RTV6 reported.

Authorities said they hope someone in the neighborhood can offer clues as to what happened.

Pastor Omar Garcia, an outreach minister at the Shepherd Community Center, is encouraging people to step forward with information.

"If they don't open their mouths, these things are going to happen again," Garcia said. "We need to stop that."

Police are asking anyone with information about the couple or who may have been at the house Thursday to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-8477.
