Jennifer Carmack

General Assignment Reporter

For Jennifer Carmack, reporting is a challenge she is more than willing to take on each and every day.

"Behind every story, there are real people. I never let myself forget what I am covering for a day or a week has most likely forever changed someone's life," she said.

Carmack grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Franklin Central High School before pursuing a communications degree at Indiana State University. Her career took her to Columbus, Indiana, Cincinnati, Ohio and Knoxville, Tennessee, before she returned home to Indianapolis.

She was the recipient of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award. Carmack was also awarded first-place honors by the Society of Professional Journalists for her coverage of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Carmack believes in giving back. She works extensively with the People's Burn Foundation, volunteering each summer as a counselor at Camp Braveheart, a camp for burned children. This is a cause close to her heart because she, too, is a burn survivor.

When Carmack is not reporting the day's news, she enjoys running, cooking, baking and spending time with her husband Jeremy and friends.
