Three men were arrested in the aftermath of the death of a man who was pulled from Monroe Reservoir on Saturday.
Conservation officers were called to the Fourwinds Resort and Marina just after 6 p.m. Saturday on a report of a possible drowning.
Dive teams pulled Matthew Hosier, 29, from the water. He was taken to a Bloomington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
"There was an altercation at the
boat rental dock involving Hosier and another man," said Officer Scott Johnson. "At some point during the altercation, Hosier entered the water and did not resurface, and bystanders called for assistance."
An autopsy is planned for Tuesday to determine what caused Hosier's death.
Police arrested Dillon Barrett, 22, of Anderson, on charges of involuntary manslaughter and battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
Rian Lemons, 33, and Justin Austin, 22, both also of Anderson, were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct. Lemons was also arrested on a charge of resisting law enforcement. Austin also faces a charge of public intoxication.
Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer said it was Hosier's birthday.
Conservation officers said they are interviewing other witnesses.
Witness Steve Megremis, of Bloomington, told The Herald-Times that the victim and three other men were pushing, shoving and knocking each other into the water on a boat slip. After Hosier went into the water and failed to resurface, he said the three other men dove into the lake to search for him.
The marina celebrated a grand reopening on Friday of its renovated and modernized rooms and refurbished swimming pool.
