Nuns Offer Up Super Bowl Tickets For Good Cause

Sisters Auctioning Off Donated Tickets

Some Indiana nuns are getting into the Super Bowl spirit while raising money for a cause close to their hearts.

The sisters from Our Lady of Grace Monastery in Beech Grove toured Super Bowl Village on Thursday, and even took turns on the zip line.

While the nuns don't have any interest in going to the game themselves, they're hoping to send two people in their place thanks to a generous donation.

Special Section: Super Bowl

Frank Mascari, a Beech Grove businessman and member of the Indianapolis City-County Council, gave two Super Bowl tickets to the nuns to auction off on their website to benefit the Benedict Inn, a facility for spiritual retreats.

"I basically wanted to make sure they could raise some money for the Benedict Inn. They're struggling just like anybody else," Mascari said.

The sisters have already gotten inquiries about the tickets from across the country.

"This is just like a blessing out of the heavens," said Sister Mary Luke Jones. "As far as going to the game, we never thought of that. We never thought this would happen either."

The starting bid on the tickets is $2,000. The package also includes two tickets to the NFL Experience, two tickets to a Pacers game and a meal and the nuns are throwing in a free stay at the monastery.

"What we actually pray for is that everyone has a good time," Jones said.

The prize will go to the highest bidder Monday afternoon.
