Decal Sale Honoring Slain Officer Starts Tuesday

Proceeds Go To Daughter's Trust Fund

UPDATED: 11:09 am EST August 24, 2004

A sale of vehicle decals honoring a slain police officer begins Tuesday at Indianapolis Police Department district offices.

The officer, Timothy "Jake" Laird, was fatally shot last week on the city's southeast side.

The decals, which will sell for $5 each, feature the words "In Memory Of Timothy 'Jake' Laird." They also include his unit number, Charles 421.

Proceeds will go to a trust fund for Laird's 7-year-old daughter, Kaylee Laird.

The decals, provided by a Greenwood company called Fast Signs, will be available at IPD district offices starting Tuesday.

Donations also can be made directly to the Kaylee Laird Trust Fund at the Indianapolis Police Department Credit Union, 1502 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46201.
