Despite Closure, Hospital's Medical Records Available

People Can Make Requests In Person, Monday Through Friday

POSTED: 11:10 pm EDT September 20, 2004

The front doors of Winona Memorial Hospital are locked, but people still are there to provide copies of medical records for former patients.

After the hospital closed this month, an Indianapolis woman who wanted her medical records told Call 6 for Help that she was unable to reach anyone at Winona.

Call 6 visited the facility and learned that people can still go to its 32nd Street entrance to make records requests.

The hospital is processing the requests Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Call 6's Rafael Sanchez reported.

People who want their records will be asked to fill out a form and show some identification, such as a driver's license.

Under Indiana law, the hospital can charge people $15 for copying up to 10 pages. After the first 10 pages, each additional page can cost 25 cents.

The hospital, located at 3232 N. Meridian St., closed after it was forced into bankruptcy.
