INDIANAPOLIS -- Police on Sunday arrested an Indianapolis man in connection with the rape of one girl and the molestation of another in a 15-hour period last week on the city's east side.

Police: Man's Fingerprint Found At Crime Scene

Authorities said a fingerprint found at one of the crime scenes prompted them to arrest Richard Fox, 39. He admitted that he sexually assaulted a girl and was held on an outstanding warrant not related to the assault cases, police said.

Police said they believe Fox approached a 12-year-old girl who was walking from a store Thursday afternoon and abducted her at knifepoint near the intersection of East 10th and Olney streets.

Fox allegedly took the girl inside an abandoned home on East 10th Street, raped her, and then left on foot, police said.

"He confessed to sexually assaulting our 12-year-old victim," Indianapolis police Detective Greg Norris said.

Police said they also believe Fox molested an 11-year-old girl he saw walking to her bus stop on Friday morning, not far from the site of Thursday's attack. The girl told police that a man grabbed her and took her behind a house at knifepoint, authorities said.

Authorities said the girl was molested, but she managed to get away and call police, RTV6's Jeremy Brilliant reported.

Investigators found a fingerprint at one of the homes and determined it belonged to Fox, police said. Police arrested him Sunday morning at his home on the 1100 block of North Gale Street.

Knives and clothing found at Fox's home matched descriptions the girls gave to investigators, police said. When they were shown a photo of Fox, they identified him as their attacker, according to police.

Police said they expect charges will be filed in connection with both attacks later this week.

Investigators also are trying to determine whether Fox was involved in other sexual assaults, Brilliant reported.
