Replica Guns Recovered After Theft From Trailer

25-Year-Old Questioned By Police

POSTED: 6:30 pm EDT May 9, 2005

All of the riot gear and replica guns that were stolen from a trailer owned by a training contractor for the Department of Homeland security were recovered last week, Bloomington police said.

The items, which were reported stolen on Thursday, were found Friday in a water reservoir on a farm just east of Bloomington on Friday.

Police made the discovery after questioning a 25-year-old man who they believed was linked to a car that had been seen at the scene of a separate theft. No charges have been filed, and the case remained under investigation Monday, police said.

Police said 45 training guns, handheld radios and riot control equipment were taken from a trailer in a hotel parking lot in Bloomington late Wednesday or early Thursday. Homeland Security personnel were in the city for training sessions with local authorities.
