Controversial Colts Funding Plan Gets Hearing

INDIANAPOLIS -- The smoking ban wasn't the only controversial issue on the city-county council's agenda Monday night.The council also heard about the plan to help pay for a new Colts stadium and expanded convention center.Representatives from the mayor's and governor's offices showcased their support for a 1 percent county-wide food and beverage tax.It would cover some of the costs for the nearly $1 billion project. Additional taxes for hotel and car rentals are also a possibility.
