Body Of Missing Boater Found

POSTED: 2:29 pm EDT June 6, 2005

The body of a man who was presumed drowned in Eagle Creek Reservoir was found there Monday, two days after he disappeared.

A police dispatcher said searchers found the body of Thomas Thompson, 37, at the reservoir.

Authorities said Thompson disappeared after jumping from a metal fishing boat into the water for a swim at about 7 p.m. Saturday. Police said two other people -- a man and a 9-year-old boy -- were on the boat at the time.

Police and fire department divers searched the reservoir for a few hours Saturday night and resumed the search on Sunday. The divers suspended the effort Sunday afternoon because of an approaching storm, and the search resumed Monday.

Information on the cause of death wasn't immediately available.
