Authorities say blood and DNA evidence links a man to last year's slayings of two prostitutes and the 2000 strangling of another Terre Haute woman.

Kevin L. Hampton, 43, of Terre Haute was charged Tuesday with killing Tanette "Toni" Dickison, 18; Cassie Harris, 48; and Dianna Lehman, 18, all of Terre Haute. He also was charged with rape and criminal deviate conduct in the death of Lehman. He was being held without bond Tuesday in Vigo County Jail.

If convicted of all counts and sentenced consecutively, he could face from 147 to 235 years in prison.

"This investigation will continue, we're not done collecting evidence," said Sheriff Mike Heaton of neighboring Clay County.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Hampton picked up Dickison and Harris on or about the Nov. 28 -- the last time authorities believe the women were seen alive. The women were friends and worked together as prostitutes, the affidavit said.

Police began investigating the women's disappearances jointly when Dickison's body was found in a private pond in Clay County about a day after she went missing. Harris' body was found in February in a Vigo County creek, and a coroner's report said she likely had died about the time she disappeared.

An associate of Hampton's, Timothy Bailey, 43, of Terre Haute, allegedly told police he and Hampton picked up Dickison at her home on the night she vanished and they both had sex with her at Hampton's apartment, but she was alive when he last saw her.

Bailey said Hampton later told him he had killed Dickison in a dispute over money, according to the court documents. Bailey, whom police say helped Hampton dispose of Dickison's body, was charged in Clay County with assisting a criminal.

Investigators also found DNA matching that of Dickison in a car used by Hampton, and blood stains on a couch from Hampton's home matched Harris' DNA, according to court documents.

Police said DNA evidence linked Hampton to the rape and murder of Lehman, who was found dead in her home on May 19, 2000. Investigators obtained a sample of Hampton's DNA in May while he was being held in Vigo County Jail on unrelated charges.

Authorities said all three women were strangled.

A Vigo County deputy prosecutor would not comment on how Hampton might have known Lehman.

Hampton told RTV6's Jennifer Carmack Tuesday that police were accusing the wrong man.

"I know I'm innocent," Hampton said. "We'll find out in a jury trial, fast and speedy."
