Local Chrysler Foundry To Close; 800 Jobs To Be Lost

POSTED: 6:23 pm EDT August 2, 2005

Chrysler plans to close its Indianapolis foundry next month, a move that would eliminate 881 jobs, RTV6 reported Tuesday.

The automaker notified state officials that it plans to close the foundry at 1100 S. Tibbs Ave. on Sept. 30.

The shutdown is not unexpected. The company said in 2003 that it planned to close the foundry by 2007.
