Police said the two called and text-messaged one another and that the conversations grew in intensity.According to police reports, Slack sent the girl a picture of his penis, wanted her to send naked pictures of herself and asked if she'd be interested in certain sexual acts.Police told RTV6 the teen's parents found out and called a social worker at the school, who contacted Child Protective Services. CPS contacted the Marion County Sheriff's Department."Essentially it is about a substitute teacher who basically abused his authority," Marion County sheriff's Capt. Phil Burton said. "He's got a duty of care when children are concerned and he abused that."Slack was also a volunteer assistant tennis coach at Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis. The university suspended him indefinitely on Friday after learning about the warrant.Slack was a tennis star and stellar student at IUPUI, where he also served as an academic advisor. He graduated last year with a degree in physical education.Police don't consider Slack a predator, or a current danger to the community, but they also don't believe this is the first time he's abused his authority.Police believe Slack may have sent text messages to other students at Warren Central and other schools.Slack was booked and released Monday morning on his own recognizance. He has been ordered to wear a monitoring device until his court appearance next week.If convicted, Slack could spend up to three years in prison, pay a $10,000 fine and would be banned from teaching for life.
