Sugarland, concert promoters and those who built the group's stage are named in a lawsuit filed Tuesday on behalf of 51 people connected to the Indiana State Fair collapse.

The plaintiffs include the families of four of the seven people killed when the rigging above the main stage collapsed the night of the Aug. 13 concert.

Special Section: Indiana State Fair Stage Collapse

The suit claims 12 points of negligence against the defendants, including questions about the design and inspection of the stage and allowing the stage to be overloaded beyond reasonable engineering tolerances.

The suit also accuses concert organizers of failing to properly monitor the weather and failing to evacuate the area in a timely and appropriate manner.

The suit seeks unspecified damages.

Seven people were killed and more than 40 others were injured when the stage rigging collapsed.

A state-sponsored investigation is ongoing.
