INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis woman who runs a massage business out of her home let employees rent her bedroom to work as prostitutes there, the Marion County Sheriff's Department said.

The department launched an investigation into Julia Howard's massage business on the 5300 block of Concho Drive on the city's southeast side this month. An undercover detective responded to an ad for the business, placed in Nuvo magazine, and caught Margaret Hines, 27, offering to perform a sex act in the home this month, the department said.

Hines was issued a summons to court on a charge of prostitution, RTV6's Jack Rinehart reported.

Authorities said Howard, who began renting the residence last month, was convicted of promoting prostitution 10 months ago for running a similar business out of a different house.

Sheriff's investigators said that because children live in the home with Howard, they forwarded the case to child protective services. Information on what action, if any, social workers planned to take was not available.

Neighbors had complained to police that several cars and men had been to the home since Howard moved to the home last month, Rinehart reported.
