INDIANAPOLIS -- January will be on the warmest on record in Indianapolis. The National Weather Service said the average temperature for the month was 39.9 degrees, which is the warmest monthly average since 1880.Temperatures are expected to remain above normal for the last two days of the month.January's extended warming trend has made it seem like something less than winter this year. Very little snow fell during the month. The biggest snow of the season fell in December, the last time there was any extended cool snap.Forecasters expected the rest of winter to be more mild than wild, Stormteam 6 meteorologist Paul Poteet said. But, there is expected to be at least one cold snap and some snow should fall before temperatures warm up for good.Stay with Stormteam 6 and TheIndyChannel.com for the latest weather information.
