INDIANAPOLIS -- Authorities say they want to question a man about a shooting in which a pregnant woman and another woman were killed and four boys were wounded at a west-side Indianapolis apartment complex Wednesday night.Police identified Royal Amos, 26, as a person of interest in the slayings of Keyonia Dunn, 20, and Erika Thornton, 31, and the shootings of the women's sons at the Forest Hills apartments. Authorities said Amos was the boyfriend of Dunn, who had been pregnant for four months when she was killed.Investigators believe Amos has left Indiana, RTV6's Jack Rinehart reported Thursday.Authorities said three of the wounded children were Thornton's sons -- Ronald Thornton, 10, Christopher Thornton, 9, and Jalen Thornton, 5 -- and the other was Dunn's son, Desean Dunn, 2.

Both Desean Dunn and Jalen Thornton were listed in critical condition at Riley Hospital for Children, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Department. The other boys were listed in serious condition.Family members told sheriff's investigators that Amos had a troubled relationship with Keyonia Dunn, Rinehart reported. The two women were found dead inside the apartment after police learned of the shootings when a man who saw three of the children, covered in blood, called police just before 11:30 p.m., RTV6's Julie Pursley reported.Investigators determined that a masked gunman broke into the apartment and began shooting, Rinehart reported."An individual was out walking his dog around that time. He encountered three young boys, all male … they had been injured to some extent," sheriff's Lt. Michael DeHart said.Investigators said the women were found shot in different bedrooms and the 2-year-old boy was found unconscious, also in the apartment. The brutal manner of the shootings leads investigators to believe that the motive was personal."That is someone whose actions are cold-blooded," sheriff's Capt. Phil Burton said. "Someone who actually shoots children really needs to be off the streets. That is one of the reasons we don't know if one of the deceased girls, her boyfriend -- we are looking for him. We want to speak with him."Amos was previously arrested on charges including battery and carrying a handgun without a license, Burton said.Police were trying to see if anyone witnessed the shooting. Officials said the man who called them initially said he heard some faint pops before he saw the children walking.Police said the older children were able to give them some informationNo weapon was found at the scene. Police asked anyone with information to call the Marion County Sheriff's Department at (317) 231-8275.
