BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The boyfriend of one of two women found fatally shot in an Indianapolis apartment was was taken into custody in Bloomington early Friday morning.Royal Amos, 26, was being held in the Monroe County Jail on a narcotics charge, Bloomington police said.Marion County sheriff's detectives attempted to question Amos on Friday morning, but said he would not talk to them. Police are calling Amos a "person of interest" in the slayings of Keyonia Dunn, 20, and Erika Thornton, 31, and the shooting of the women's sons.Amos was taken into custody by Bloomington police at about 3 a.m. Police said Amos had a small amount of marijuana in his possession when he was apprehended.Bloomington police said Amos was a passenger in a car driven by Howard Harris, whom police arrested on a cocaine possession charge."They (Bloomington police) had set up surveillance in the parking lot of a Hobby Lobby, and he did pull into that particular parking lot and was subsequently arrested," said Marion County sheriff's Capt. Phil Burton. "He (Amos) was arrested on having narcotics in his vehicle."Dunn and Thornton were found shot to death late Wednesday in Dunn's second-floor apartment in a complex on Indianapolis' west side, authorities said. Dunn was four-months pregnant with Amos' child, police said.

Dunn's 2-year-old son, Desean Dunn, was shot in the neck. He was hospitalized and was in critical condition Friday afternoon.Thornton's three sons, ages 5, 9 and 10, also were shot and hospitalized. The boys were listed in fair condition Friday afternoon."We want to know what he (Amos) knows, if anything, about this homicide," Burton said. "We have his girlfriend, who is now deceased. Hopefully, he can speak to us and shed some light on the situation."Amos has spent time in prison for carjacking convictions in 2000 and 2003 as well as carrying a handgun without a license, according to state records, Burton said Amos had previously been arrested on a battery charge but was unsure whether the incident involved Dunn."There was a stormy relationship between her and her boyfriend ... I don't want to say stormy, but it was something less than pleasing, I'd say," Burton said.Tracie Edwards, mother of Keyonia Dunn, told RTV6 Thursday she is convinced that Amos killed her daughter. Edwards said Amos threatened her daughter because he wanted money to pay off a drug debt."I think he needs to get off the street because he's dangerous. He just left a note on my cousin's door saying he's going to finish the rest of the family off and he knows where I live at, so I got to move," Edwards said.Amos' mother, Delories Amos, encouraged her son to surrender and said she didn't know if he committed the crimes."Nobody wants to think their child is capable of something like that, but I can't say he did do it and I can't say that he didn't do it," Delories Amos said.Sheriff's Lt. Michael DeHart said that a resident of the Forest Hills Apartments who was walking his dog called police sometime after 11 p.m. Wednesday when he saw the three older boys outside. When police officers arrived, they found the front door of the apartment had been kicked in, Burton said. Inside, they found the two dead women and the wounded 2-year-old.Burton said no gun was found inside. The killings happened in an apartment complex that is a collection of three-story buildings about two miles southwest of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
