Reporters Get Last Look At Market Square Arena
MSA Will Be Imploded In June Or July
Members of the media took a final look inside Market Square Arena Wednesday, before it is demolished this summer.

MSA opened for business Sept. 15, 1974. Glenn Campbell was the featured performer and the top ticket cost $7, but times have changed.
The holes are being drilled into MSA so that dynamite can be strategically placed for the implosion.
"The amount of explosives we use is very small when you consider the size of the structure. You can be four or five blocks away and it looks huge. Its like a suffle. it is full of air. If you pop the bubble it falls. That's what we are gonna do here give the dome a chance to deflate," Mark Loizeaux of Controlled Demolition Incoroporated said.
While the goodbye is being steadfastly prepared, the welcoming of MSA, back in 1974, was quite warm. The Indianapolis Star heralded the arrival, calling it a big step for the city. Eddie Grover was the building superintendent when it opened, and he said that its time to step away.
"I really thought I'd be sad and miss it. Its just like your first home and move into another. You forget the first home. Its not as sad as I thought it would be," Grover said.
MSA's belongings, including the seats and the scoreboard are now being moved out of the arena.

"We have negotiated with a couple of brokers and they will be used in similar facilities across the country," project manager Jeremy Hudson said.
The scoreboard won't be used; they said that they tried, but couldn't give it away.
The power to MSA will be shut off on Friday.
The implosion is scheduled for sometime in June or July.
Memorabilia from MSA will not be sold.
