INDIANAPOLIS -- Two men were charged Wednesday with murder and other felonies in connection with the shooting deaths of two women and the wounding of four children last month.Royal Amos, 27, and Howard Harris, 23, each face two counts of murder relating to the Feb. 1 deaths of Amos' girlfriend, Keyonia Dunn, 20, and her friend Erika Thornton, 31.Sheriff's detectives said the men invaded Dunn's Indianapolis apartment, and that someone shot the women, Dunn's 2-year-old son and one of Thornton's sons. Two of Thornton's other sons were pistol-whipped, police said.

Amos and Harris were arrested in Bloomington on Feb. 3. In addition to murder, they each face four counts of attempted murder in connection with the children's injuries. They also are charged with burglary, aggravated battery and battery.A probable cause affidavit doesn't say whether both men are suspected of doing the shooting. Investigators said the blood of Keyonia Dunn and that of her son were found on the clothing Amos wore at the time of his arrest.According to the affidavit, Harris told investigators that Amos went into Dunn's apartment and started shooting, and that Harris ran when the shooting began. On Wednesday, Marion County prosecutor Carl Brizzi told reporters that he wanted to seek the death penalty against Amos, but that he first will consult with the victims' relatives."If not this case, then what, in terms of applying the death penalty? The death penalty was designed for people like Royal Amos," Brizzi said.Authorities said Dunn was pregnant with Amos' child when the shooting happened. The fetus didn't survive, but Amos will not face charges in connection with that death, 6News' Jack Rinehart reported.
