Julie Pursley

POSTED: 10:48 am EDT July 4, 2001

6News reporter Julie Pursley has returned to her roots.

"This is home to me, and I'm glad to be back here," the Indianapolis native said after joining RTV6 in May 2001.

Pursley is a graduate of Warren Central High School and Indiana University. She previously worked at WHAS-TV in Louisville, Ky.

Pursley likes to describe her career as journeys across Indiana and Kentucky. She also worked for stations in Valparaiso, South Bend, and Fort Wayne, Ind., as well as an ABC affiliate in Bowling Green, Ky. While working for the ABC affiliate in Bowling Green, her investigative reporting helped police solve a murder case.

Pursley graduated in 1991 from Indiana University with a degree in Telecommunications and has worked in TV and radio ever since. She is also a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

"My favorite part about my job is meeting different people every day and trying to give viewers news they can use to help solve problems or educate themselves," she said.

Pursley enjoys being a part of the "Good Morning Indiana" team. She is amused by all of the people who frequently stop her to ask if she minds standing out in the heat, rain or snow during the early morning hours.

"Whether it has to do with today’s weather conditions or breaking news, I feel it is important to make sure people are informed before they hit the door at the beginning of each new day," she adds.

Pursley lives with her husband and two children. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, swimming, water skiing, snow skiing and traveling.
