911 Hang-Up Leads Police To Huge Pot Grow

Police Seize 82 Plants, Guns From Home

A Miami County couple all but led officers to their massive indoor marijuana grow after hanging up on 911, police said.

A state trooper went to a home at 1899 East County Road 1100 North in Macy Friday afternoon on a report of an interrupted emergency call, said Sgt. Tony Slocum.

Becky Friedersdorf, 47, told police that she had called 911 when her husband, Mark Friedersdorf, 44, intentionally rammed his head into a wall. But she said that her husband hung up the phone before she was able to talk to the operator.

While the trooper was talking with the couple, he said he noticed a strong smell of marijuana. Looking around, he found 10 marijuana plants hanging to dry in a closet.

When police came back with a search warrant, they found an active marijuana grow in the basement of the home, Slocum said. Troopers seized 72 more plants, growing equipment, more than a dozen guns, drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Mark and Becky Friedersdorf were each preliminarily charged with cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana over 30 grams, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mark Friedersdorf was also charged with interfering with the reporting of a crime.

They were transported to the Miami County Jail.
