An Indianapolis police officer was treated at a hospital after a vehicle struck the motorcycle he was riding Tuesday morning.

Police said Officer Dwight Tripp was on West 10th Street at Tibbs Avenue when another vehicle turned onto Tibbs, striking the motorcycle.

Tripp was thrown from the motorcycle before it went under the car. He was treated for back pain at Methodist Hospital and released.

Police said the car driver received a ticket for allegedly failing to yield the right of way. She was not injured.
