A police officer fatally shot a pit bull after a teenage boy ordered it to attack a different officer Tuesday night, authorities said.

The 15-year-old was arrested after the incident near his home in the 900 block of North Parker Avenue, police said.

Police said officers were patrolling the neighborhood when someone told them that a couple of teens were vandalizing cars in an alley. When one of the officers checked the report, he noticed a teen and tried to talk to him, but the teen ran, police said.

According to a police report, the officer pursued the teen to a yard near the teen's home, and the teen yelled "Get him" to his family's pit bull.

The dog bit the officer's left leg and thigh, police said.

Two more officers arrived, and one of them shot the dog as it tried to go after the other, according to police.

The teen faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

The teen's father told 6News' Linda Allen that his son didn't order the dog to attack the officer.

"(My son) was in my kitchen floor handcuffed with another officer sitting on top of him, and that (other) officer was outside with the dog, so there's no way he could have told him to sic him," Chuck Baldwin said.
