Juvenile Detention Worker Arrested On Drug Charge

INDIANAPOLIS -- Marion County's juvenile detention center suspended one of its youth counselors after he was arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin, 6News' Jack Rinehart reported Wednesday.

Police said they arrested Gates Robertson, 54, at a strip mall near 25th Street and Keystone Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers went to the strip mall after someone complained that a man was selling drugs there. Police said that as they approached Robertson at the strip mall, Robertson threw something that they believed to contain heroin.

Police said they had evidence that he possessed heroin, but no evidence that he was selling anything.

Marion County's chief probation officer told 6News that he was troubled that Robertson, who works with youths at the juvenile detention center, was arrested on a drug charge.
