Zionsville police are looking for a man accused of molesting an 8-year-old boy along a park trail on Tuesday.

Police said 13 day campers from the Arthur Jordan YMCA had been playing in a raft along Eagle Creek at Creekside Nature Park.

The victim went behind a tree to urinate. Officials said he was momentarily out of the line of sight of the camp counselors when the assault occurred, 6News' Derrik Thomas reported.

"The adult male offered the child money in exchange for a sexual act. The child accepted the money, then the adult male fled the scene coming down this path to the north," said Zionsville police Detective Rob Knox.

As the man made a hurried escape on foot, one of the camp counselors gave chase, but could not catch up with him.

Police said the man lost a Chicago Bulls baseball cap, which they hope might lead them to him.

Detectives think witnesses might have seen someone with the hat on and will give them a call. They have stepped up bike patrols in the park following the incident.

"I do take it personally. If anyone decides to come in the area to try it again, we're going to be here and we are going to catch them," warned Zionsville police Officer Joe Robinson.

YMCA executive Vice President Michele Goodrich said there was more than enough staff to supervise the children.

"We had three staff members there with 13 campers. Our usual ratio is 1 to 10, according to the American Camper's Association standards. We had adult supervision," Goodrich said. "It is an unfortunate situation. We are looking into it."

One of the camp's supervisors has been temporarily reassigned.
