Police are looking for suspects after a man and woman were shot to death early Thursday morning.

The shootings happened just after midnight in the 2400 block of Webster Avenue, on the city's east side.

The victims were identified as Allen Westmoreland, 21, and Latasha Pettis, 31.

Police were called to the scene after someone called and said they had heard some shots fired, 6News' Julie Pursley reported. The victims were found immediately when police arrived.

"When officers arrived, they found a female subject lying in the grass next to a vehicle," said Indianapolis police Maj. John Conley. "Upon closer investigation, we found her male companion inside that vehicle, dead of gunshot wounds."

Westmoreland was pronounced dead at the scene and Pettis died later at Wishard Hospital.

Police told 6News that they don't have much information to go on as they investigate the shootings, but said they had been told a man was seen running from the area shortly after the shootings.

That man was described as black, with a bald head and no shirt. He was wearing dark blue shorts and might have been armed with a 9 mm pistol.

Police asked anyone with information about either case to call IPD at 317-327-3475.
