One man was killed and two people were shot Saturday night as a wave of shootings that have recently plagued Indianapolis continues.

Over a 24-hour period between Friday and Saturday night, 12 people were shot and five were killed.

Police said Saturday night's incident was a shootout in the middle of Georgetown Road and 56th Street, 6News' Jennifer Carmack reported.

Investigators said the incident began as an argument at a Shell gas station that spilled into the street. Top officials from the Indianapolis Police Department, Marion County Sheriff's Department and prosecutor's office went to the scene of the latest shooting.

All the victims were black men. Investigators said one suspect was seen running from the crime scene, but investigators are not sure how many other people might have been involved.

"There's a number of shell casings, so it's very apparent that there were shots fired probably from both vehicles," said Marion County sheriff's Deputy Chief Scott Robinette.

Marion County Sheriff Frank Anderson didn't mince words about the latest shootings.

"We're going to hunt you down. We're not going to stop until we catch you," Anderson said. "If there's anybody else out there thinking of doing things like this, we've declared war. We're going to take these streets back. You can take that to the bank."

There was no immediate information about the conditions of those who were shot. One of those victims was shot in the head, and the other was shot in the torso.

Police were checking surveillance video from the Shell station in an effort to find pictures of the people involved.
