Six central Indiana men have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in a marijuana ring, including an Indianapolis postal worker accused of using his position to distribute the drug, authorities said.

Bradley Polley, 50, a 29-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service, is accused of having marijuana that originated in Canada shipped from California to the Indianapolis postal branch where he worked, police said.

"He would give them valid addresses ... so as not to raise a red flag, and when those packages would come, Polley would take them directly off the line for his truck and then take the marijuana to sell himself," said Maj. Randy Schalburg of the Hamilton County-Boone County Drug Task Force.

Polley and the five other men are accused of dealing high-grade marijuana from Canada. Police said they believe the main supplier was David Aubin, 26, of Ontario, Canada, for whom authorities are searching.

The men were part of a loose drug-distribution network, police said.

"Some people may not know other people, but they all had the same common denominators of three or four people that they were associated with," Schalburg said.

The arrests stem from an investigation that began after a Fishers police officer made a drug-related arrest in a park in May 2005, authorities said.

Investigators said about $750,000 worth of marijuana was either seized or purchased during the investigation. Several vehicles also were confiscated.

Police said they expect to make more arrests.

Polley has resigned from the U.S. Postal Service, 6News reported.

The following are the five other central Indiana men who were arrested on charges of dealing and possessing marijuana:

  • Daniel Mason, 25, of Indianapolis
  • Brent Jones, 24, of Indianapolis
  • Steven T. Klotz, 37, of Carmel
  • William Allen, 38, of Indianapolis
  • John T. Balmforth, of Pendleton
