Juvenile Correctional Officer Fired, Accused Of Sexual Misconduct

INDIANAPOLIS -- An officer at the Indianapolis Juvenile Correctional Facility has been fired on suspicion of engaging in sexual misconduct with a female inmate, officials said.Correctional Officer Octavious Tyler, 25, was fired Wednesday by the facility's superintendent.The facility began investigating Tyler after a different female inmate told staff members that a girl there said Tyler had engaged in sexual conduct with her, the Indiana Department of Correction said.
"It is unacceptable for staff to have any inappropriate relationships with juvenile or adult offenders. We will not tolerate criminal misconduct within our system at any time," DOC Superintendent J. David Donahue said in a news release.Information on whether Tyler faced criminal charges over the allegations wasn't available.The state-run facility is separate from the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center, which had nine employees who were charged with engaging in sexual misconduct with detainees.
