FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Drug Enforcement Agency officials call the confiscation of about 2,000 pounds of marijuana in Fort Wayne one of the most significant seizures in northeastern Indiana in years.
Authorities say investigators had been tracking the lease of a Fort Wayne warehouse and found the marijuana there during a raid this week.
DEA officials say agents found 2,160 pounds of marijuana concealed in 12 freezers inside a truck, wrapped in 10- to 50-pound bundles.
The Journal Gazette and The Herald Republican report agents arrested Martin Gonzalez-Medina of Indianapolis on charges of intent to distribute marijuana.
Gonzalez-Medina was being held in the Allen County Jail. It isn't clear whether he has an attorney.
DEA Special Agent-in-Charge Jack Riley says the seizure shows criminals continue using the city for drug distribution.
