INDIANAPOLIS - An Indiana judge and attorney faces disciplinary charges over accusations she had a sexual relationship with a client during their meetings in prison.
The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications has filed three disciplinary charges against Lisa Traylor-Wolff, a senior judge serving in Pulaski and Fulton Counties.
Senior judges, who work part-time filling in for trial court judges, are attorneys who are also allowed to represent clients.
Traylor-Wolff was appointed to represent a 26-year-old man after he was convicted on felony charges and sentenced to time at the Miami Correctional Facility near Peru, the commission said.
While representing the client on appeal, Traylor-Wolff began a romantic relationship with the man, engaging in inappropriate conduct with him in an attorney-client visitation room at the prison, the commission said.
Traylor-Wolff has 20 days of file an answer to the charges. If found in violation, she could face sanctions ranging from a reprimand to a permanent ban on holding a judicial office in Indiana.
The Indiana Supreme Court has final authority over judicial discipline.
Traylor-Wolff is listed as a lawyer on the website of the Leeman Law Office in Logansport. She did not ask to be recertified as a senior judge in 2013, the commission said.
