INDIANAPOLIS – An arrest has been made in the weekend murder of an 18-year-old on the northeast side of Indianapolis, but that man's family still doesn't have their brother and son back.

Police say 20-year-old Dion Beals killed 18-year-old Floyd Teague V Sunday night.

The shooting happened shortly after 8 p.m. in the 2900 block of East 38th Street.

Police found Teague V lying outside a vehicle with at least one gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Teague V was from a family with a lot of pride in the name "Floyd." His brother shared his name*, and was with him just before he died.

"We pulled up to get gas and I just heard a shot, one shot," his brother, Floyd Teague, said. "So when I turned and saw it, (I) heard some more shots and I took off running, (and) came back and he was (lying) there."

Teague says he and his brother were closer to twins than normal siblings, and they did everything together.

Meanwhile their mother is inconsolable.

"I haven't been able to sleep," Tanika Teague said. "I'm just trying to think about good times with him."

Through her heartbreak, Tanika says she has a lot of those memories to hold onto.

"He was getting ready for a date the day before (he was killed) and just – trying on outfits and coming and asking me, 'How does this look?' Standing in the mirror and stuff," Tanika said. "I had just (seen) him a couple hours before (the shooting) and he told me Happy Mother's Day and I left to go to work. And then (I) got that phone call."

Teague V leaves behind a 3-year-old son. There is a vigil scheduled for him at 7:30 Monday night at 38th and Oxford.

Dion Beals now faces charges in Teague V's death.

*EDITOR'S NOTE: Due to the nature of the victim's name and his brother's name, we will name the murder victim as "Teague V" and his brother (who shares his first and last names) as simply "Teague."
