INDIANAPOLIS -- A local nonprofit is seeking the public’s help in identifying who took more than a thousand dollars’ worth of furniture from their front porch.

Joy’s House, an adult day care located in Broad Ripple, said the theft happened on Sunday at 6:18 am.

The man, captured on surveillance video, used a U-Haul to take wicker chairs and a fall mum.

“We were so stunned,” said Joy’s House Business Manager Liz Todd. “I think we’ve owned that furniture for 4 or 5 years and it’s never been touched ever.”

Todd said they’re amazed at how brazen the thief was.

“The lights and cameras were all on, and he just loads it up and takes it away,” said Todd. “We care so much about what we do here and we’re so protective of our people, to have someone come up and just help themselves.  But who knows what’s going on in his life.”

Indianapolis Metro Police is investigating, but has not yet identified a suspect.

They hope media coverage will allow them to figure out who is on the tape.

Joy’s House has a message for who took their stuff.

“Your grandfather could be staying here, or your mother,” said Todd. “We are here to help the elderly and you’re taking away from a very good cause.  How can you stoop to do that?”

If you have any information, you can call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
