The Fishers Police Department and the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration are conducting an investigation at the Play School at Saxony Village, a licensed child care center.

A mother told Call 6 Investigates Kara Kenney she walked in on a day care worker slamming her son, 22 months, into his cot and throwing covers over his head.

The Fishers Police Department said the mother filed a complaint with police on Monday.

“The mother reported observing the employee forcibly pushing her child onto a napping cot,” said Sgt. Tom Weger in a statement to RTV6. “The mother immediately notified the manager and removed her child from the school.”

The mother, who did not yet want to be identified, said she has also contacted the Indiana Department of Child Services and FSSA, the state agency that licenses child care facilities.

“We are investigating,” said Marni Lemons, spokesperson for FSSA.

The Play School at Saxony Village released the following statement Wednesday:

“We pride ourselves on our stellar reputation in the community and with the state licensing agencies. A parent recently did make an allegation that her son was mistreated. We have notified parents enrolled at our facility of the allegation. The Family and Social Services Administration completed its review today. While the final report has not yet been published, as we anticipated, we understand the FSSA concluded the allegation was “undetermined, not-validated.” As we have throughout our 28 years in business, we will continue to focus on the health and safety of our students and to act as good stewards for our parents.”

Fishers Police Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective Dan Nelson at 317-595-3331.
