INDOT announces I-69 expansion route

State Road 37 chosen after years of research and input

INDIANAPOLIS -- Driving from Martinsville to Indianapolis is about to get easier.

INDOT announced Tuesday after years of evaluation and discussions with the community that its selected I-69 route will follow State Road 37.

The new route is expected to cut down travel times by 11 to 13 minutes.

INDOT says the route best meets I-69 performance measures while minimizing costs and impact to the land and environment.

The project is expected to start construction in 2017.
