Dear Robinson,

I called the company switchboard, and the legal department referred your name.

By way of introduction, my name is Rafael Sanchez. I’m a reporter at the ABC affiliate, WRTV-6, in Indianapolis.

I just interviewed the Police Chief of Connersville Indiana who claims his personal  Glock 23 accidentally went off when his fleece drawstring released his weapon’s safety feature. The chief was at a gun store when the incident
happened.

I’ve  read online stories of a few other officers who over the years have had a similar incident  including a Deputy in Salem, Oregon in 2005, a Louisiana Sheriff’s Deputy in 2006, and a Police officer in England in 2006.

I am writing to request if Glock is aware of  these situations and whether you’ve warned customers to be mindful of their clothing when their weapon is at their side.

Let me be clear… I’m not doing an anti-gun story, or a Glock is dangerous story, or anything to malign your product.

So here are my questions:

1. Has the  company ever issued an awareness warning to Glock owners about the type of clothing they wear?
2.  Can you tell me how many Glocks you’ve sold worldwide in the last 10 years so I can put this issue in perspective?

My deadline is this Thursday, February 20th.

Respectfully,
Rafael Sanchez
