INDIANAPOLIS -- Marion County voters passed the new transit referendum Tuesday night.
IndyGo says the money will allow transit to expand as the city grows.
Indianapolis is currently the 33rd largest region in the U.S., but when it comes to spending money on transportation, we rank 86th.
The referendum does not include any funding for the building of the first phase of the Red Line. Federal and state grants are paying for the work.
The City-County Council can now add up to a 0.25 percent income tax hike since the referendum passed.
If you make $40,000 a year, it would cost you about $100.
