INDIANAPOLIS -- More than two dozen marijuana plants were found on the grounds of a north side elementary school Monday night.

The discovery came when an IMPD officer responded to an exit door alarm at Greenbriar Elementary School, located at 8201 N. Ditch Road, around 10:45 p.m.

As the officer was walking around the perimeter of the building, approximately 25 small marijuana plants were found growing on the premises.

The plants were taken to IMPD's property room to be disposed of.

Washington Township Schools released a brief statement to RTV6 Tuesday about the discovery:

At approximately 10:30 PM on Monday, November 14, IMPD responded to an exit door alarm at Greenbriar Elementary School located at 8201 N. Ditch Rd.

As the IMPD officer walked the close perimeter of the building, several live marijuana plants were discovered growing in one small location on the school grounds.  The plants, according to law enforcement observations, did not appear to be cultivated plants.
