INDIANAPOLIS -- Since Friday, when the city reached a high temperature of 74 degrees, Indianapolis has had four consecutive days of below-freezing temperatures in the morning.

During that same time period, at least eight cars have been stolen while being warmed up.

Unseasonably warm temperatures this year have pushed back the date when people begin wanting to warm their cars before heading to work or school in the morning. But, now that they're here, you should be aware: Thieves are on the lookout.

The eight thefts reported so far this week have come in from around the city. The vehicles stolen include a 2001 Honda Odyssey, a 2006 Toyota RAV4 and a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu.

The best way to prevent yourself from being a victim is to not leave your car unattended while running.
