BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Two attempted abductions were reported at Indiana University’s main campus in Bloomington early Sunday morning.

The incidents happened less than a mile from each other, but police do not believe they are related.

The first attempt happened just after midnight on a side path near Bart Kaufman Field.

The 20-year-old victim told police that a man attempted to force her into his vehicle as she was walking along SR 45 near SR 46.

The suspect is described as a black man in his late 20s who is about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a dark gray t-shirt, dark pants and driving a newer model black Toyota sedan.

Police say the victim rolled into a ditch to escape and was able to run away and call the police.

The second attempt happened around 1 a.m. near Memorial Stadium.

The 19-year-old victim told police that she was walking on Dunn Street when a Jeep with three men inside pulled up next to her and tried to force her into their vehicle. The victim, a student at Indiana University, was knocked to the ground and injured but was able to escape.

Those suspects are described as three white males in their 20s, one of them had dark hair and was wearing a purple sports jersey. They were driving an older black Jeep Cherokee.

Police are still looking for suspects from both attempted abductions.
